THE NEW NEWS

All of our Internet - Youth
on what news really matters

Is there a way to keep up to date with the latest news that is “good”? Traditional journalism has finally caught up to the digital space in the last decade, but how are other content creators keeping up? We talked to six young people from two countries who all gave their perspectives on their interactions with news.

There is a lot of content on social media that isn’t written by journalists, but can be used as sources for information. Everything from activist accounts on Twitter too memes on Instagram can be a source for both getting to know about what is happening right now, but also understanding and creating opinions on what is going on in the world. All of these sources, including traditional newsrooms, are important in our “news diets”.

To give their perspective on what sources are important to them, the six youngsters all got to participate in two interviews, and write diaries on what they were seeing on social media. Go on reading by navigating the top menu, and be a part of the discussion in the Forum
